Hvad er Guitar Poesi?
Guitarpoesiklubben
Project leader: O. Trunova.
The idea to this project came during a mini festival that took place in Copenhagen in March 2009.
This festival was dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin wall and the repertoire consisted of songs by B. Okudzhava, V. Vysotsky and others performed in Danish and Russian by Danish and Russian performers (recordings can be viewed here
What we saw at this festival served to us as a convincing example of that poetry and songs can become a bridge between two cultures and this bridge can itself become a common language which can express the emotional parallels between different cultures.
A cartoon which many of us are familiar with from our childhoods illustrates this concept very well
We hope that the singing club will attract our children, of all ages that are growing up in two different cultures and two different languages. At the same time, parents and members of the older generations are welcome to join us.
Saturday meetings (from 13 to 16) will entail:
-Getting familiar with songs of various genres in different languages and translations
-singing together and solo and to combine lyrics with music from the guitar and other instruments
-guest performances by interesting authors and performers
-introduction to the multitude of festivals and other song clubs in other European countries and in
Russia (see for example “Поющий Берег” – “the singing riverbank”)
-discussions and talks about a broad range of topics
-celebrate anniversaries and other holidays
-arrange games and competitions
-learn about video and audio recording
-prepare shows for IFC festivities
